Take Profit Trader review (Oct 2026): what the Test costs, when PRO pays from day one, the rules that close accounts and who should pick another firm.

Take Profit Trader review: the short answer
This Take Profit Trader review comes down to one trade-off. Take Profit Trader (TPT) lets a PRO account withdraw from day one, and since the July 2026 "Speed of Payouts" update most Tradovate PRO withdrawals to the TPT wallet clear in 5–10 seconds. In exchange, the PRO account switches you from an end-of-day drawdown to an intraday trailing drawdown, and you have to build a buffer before the first withdrawal.
I read every number below on TPT's own help center on October 20, 2026. Prices and promos change, so check the help center and the checkout page the day you buy. We don't quote reviews or star ratings here; the rules are what close accounts.
Who it suits: a trader who already keeps losses small inside the session and wants fast access to money once the buffer is built. Who should look elsewhere: a trader whose plan depends on sitting through deep intraday pullbacks.
What the Test and PRO accounts cost
The help center doesn't list the monthly Test price; that sits on TPT's checkout page and changes with promotions. What it does publish:
- PRO activation fee: $130 per account, per TPT's NOFEE40 promo FAQ, which waives it for accounts bought with that code and says there are no further fees to move into PRO beyond the Test.
- PRO reset (optional): $449 (25K), $649 (50K), $799 (75K), $999 (100K), $1,499 (150K). You can reset a PRO account up to three times, and you keep day-one withdrawals after a reset.
A reset is a convenience fee, not capital. TPT says PRO accounts run in a simulated environment, so that money doesn't fund margin. If your PRO subscription shows "disabled", the account is closed and can't be reset.
Test rules in one table
| Account | Max position | Profit target | EOD trailing drawdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| $25,000 | 3 contracts / 30 micros | $1,500 | $1,500 |
| $50,000 | 6 contracts / 60 micros | $3,000 | $2,000 |
| $75,000 | 9 contracts / 90 micros | $4,500 | $2,500 |
| $100,000 | 12 contracts / 120 micros | $6,000 | $3,000 |
| $150,000 | 15 contracts / 150 micros | $9,000 | $4,500 |
On top of the table:
- Minimum 3 trading days. Hit the target in two and you still need a third day with at least one trade. There's no time limit.
- Consistency: your best day must stay under 50% of total net profit. Miss it and you haven't failed; the goal moves up. TPT's own example: a 50K trader makes $2,000, $600 and $500. The best day is 65% of $3,100, so the new goal is more than $4,000 (twice the best day).
- No overnight positions. The trading day runs 6 PM to 5 PM Eastern, and TPT closes anything still open at 4:55 PM ET.
- No counter positions across your accounts, including related pairs like NQ and MNQ or ES and MES. Both accounts get liquidated.
If the consistency math is new to you, our prop firm consistency rule guide walks through the same formula at other firms.
How PRO and PRO+ pay out (and the buffer)
PRO splits 80/20: you keep 80%. You can withdraw from day one, but only above the buffer, which equals your max drawdown:
| Account | Buffer balance to reach |
|---|---|
| 25K | $26,500 |
| 50K | $52,000 |
| 75K | $77,500 |
| 100K | $103,000 |
| 150K | $154,500 |

So on a 50K PRO, the first $2,000 of gains is the buffer, and withdrawals open above $52,000. If the account closes, TPT lets you withdraw 50% of the buffer.
Speed is TPT's strongest point. For most Tradovate PRO accounts the account-to-wallet step is automated and takes 5–10 seconds, as long as you're flat with no working orders. Balances update between 8 and 9 PM ET, so profit made at 3 PM can reach the wallet that evening. Wallet-to-bank is a separate step: the team reviews it within 12 business hours, US payouts go through Plaid (usually real time, sometimes 1–2 business days), and PayPal or Wise take up to 12 business hours. Rithmic PRO, PRO+ and archived accounts are still manual.
PRO+ is invite-only, at TPT's discretion. It routes your orders to the exchange, splits 90/10, drops the buffer requirement and uses an end-of-day drawdown.
The rules that close Take Profit Trader accounts

- The drawdown changes type. In the Test, the floor (the "Minimum Account Balance") only moves after the session closes, and it stops trailing once it reaches the starting balance. In PRO it trails intraday. A trade that runs $1,500 in your favour and comes back flat can move your PRO floor up $1,500 without a single losing close. Our trailing drawdown explainer shows the difference with numbers.
- Unrealized losses count. In the Test, touching the minimum balance "at any time" through open losses liquidates the account immediately.
- Limit up / limit down. In PRO you must be out before a CME price limit is hit. Holding through it loses the PRO account.
- Trade every week. PRO needs at least one traded day (one round trip) each calendar week, Sunday to Friday.
- No bots. Every PRO trade must be placed by hand.
- Holiday closes. If your product closes early and you're still in, the account is liquidated. Holiday hours are your job to track.
What the help center does not settle
Three things you'll want to confirm before paying:
- The Test price on the day you buy. It isn't in the help center, and promo codes change it.
- Whether a promo is still running. The NOFEE40 FAQ is still published, but a published FAQ is not proof the code works today.
- How "closely related products" is applied. TPT lists ES/MES, NQ/MNQ and YM/MYM and says the list "is not exhaustive". If you run several accounts, keep them all on the same side.
Who Take Profit Trader suits, and who should pick another firm
TPT fits you if:
- You size small enough that an intraday trailing floor won't catch a normal pullback.
- You want to withdraw often and fast once the buffer is built.
- You trade one direction at a time, by hand, and you're flat by 4:55 PM ET.
Pick another firm if:
- Your plan needs room for big swings against you before the trade works. An intraday floor punishes that.
- You want an end-of-day drawdown after the evaluation. Compare our My Funded Futures review and the Topstep vs Lucid vs Tradeify comparison.
- You hold over the close or run copy/hedge setups across accounts.

A five-minute check before you buy
- Open TPT's Test rules and PRO rules pages and compare the dates with this article.
- Write down your account size, max drawdown and buffer from the tables above.
- Look at your last 20 trades. How far did the best ones go against you before they worked? If that's more than half your drawdown, the PRO intraday floor will be tight.
- Check your best day as a share of your total. Above 50%, plan on a higher target.
- Set a hard flat-by time before 4:55 PM ET.
Most accounts don't end on a bad read; they end on a rule the trader forgot mid-session. MyTradingBuddy checks a chart screenshot against your own written plan before you click, so the drawdown and the flat-by time are part of the check. See MyTradingBuddy plans.
